Welcome to the Loudoun County Aeromodelers Association (LCAA). Our goal is to promote model aircraft building and flying for the purpose of education, pleasure and recreation. The public is invited to club meetings held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm at the North County Governmental Center in Reston, Virginia. Meeting activities include show 'n tell of members' aircraft and discussions on club events, activities, and business. Gather with us on Facebook.

We invite you to join us at our flying field at Banshee Reeks Park in Loudoun County. Non-club members are encouraged to try their hand at flying as a guest of a club member with assistance from a qualified pilot. As a member of the club, flight instructors are available to assist new pilots. All club members must be members of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). You must be a guest of a LCAA member or a LCAA member yourself to fly at the field. Only club qualified pilots may fly at the field by themselves. Membership applications for LCAA and AMA are available on this site.

Field hours: the LCAA flying field is open 7 days a week from 9 am to one half hour before sunset. Occasionally, the field is closed all day or for a limited amount of hours for special occasions and members are given prior notice.

Mowers Needed

We need volunteers to mow the grass at the flying field. If you have availability on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday morning please consider coming out to field and lending a hand. To see what weeks we still have need of volunteers, click here. Ideally we want to have two volunteers for each weekend. Please contact Dave Marthens to sign up for a mowing slot or schedule a time to get trained on the new tractor.

Banshee Reeks Tree Planting

On May 20th, the LCAA gave back to the Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve that graciously allows us to use part of the preserve for our flying activities. We had sixteen members help plant 300 trees in the park. LCAA members that volunteered their time include: Brian Allen, Tracy Beglau, John Bisaga, Jeff Crystal, Scott Daniels, Chris Diering, Dave Eccleston, Dale Fletcher, Mike Gragg, Arlen Harbaugh, John Knueven, Jaden Knueven-Moore, Brian Roberts, Jim Salmon, Mike Talley and Bill Waller. Some of the participants are pictured below. Ron Circe, the Preserve Manager, noted our participation and thanked us for our continued support of Banshee Reeks.
